Starbound (itch) Mac OS
“Starbound” is a space exploration game with 2D graphics with many alien races for players to choose and a system of crafting, missions to experience according to each person’s wishes. In order to conduct manufacturing activities, players need to go to certain space stations, with enough materials and formulas to make armor, weapons, food, tools, and furniture for the ship. Childhood wish fulfillment is the defining element of Starbound.Finn “Tiy” Brice, the project leader of the game, even called Starbound his “dream game,” one that captures the charm of 16-bit classics and throws it all into a blender with vast numbers of vivid, randomly generated worlds. It’s a game that wants to give you a lot, maybe even everything, but above all it emphasizes.
Starbound is different from Terraria, but it's also very similar (One of the Terraria's developers, Tiy, is behind it). Many of the features slated for initial release are listed here on their forum.
Several things I like thus far:
- Will be done in C++ and support Windows, Mac OS, and Linux
- Full Steam support
- A lot of the monsters are procedurally generated and the metadata can easily be modded for endless possibilities.
- Each server will generate a unique universe that will have procedurally generated planets
